Teaching English as a second language to beginners is a daunting task for anyone. To teach English as a second language for beginners, start with the alphabet and numbers to 100. Then work on pronouncing harder sounds like “TH,” “R,” and “L,” which are difficult for English learners. CELTA is an initial teaching qualification for teaching English as a second or foreign language (ESL and EFL). It is administered by Cambridge Assessmt glish through the Cambridge Teaching Qualification Center and is available for full-time or part-time use. CELTA is designed to suit those interested in Teaching Gaelic as a Foreign Language (TEFL) and Teaching Gaelic to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).
The full name of the course was originally Certificate in Teaching English to Adults, and is still referred to as such by some course providers. However, in 2011 the qualification was changed to the Cambridge English Level 5 Certificate for Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) on Ofqual’s register.
CELTA is designed for candidates with little or no teaching experience in English (ELT). It is also accepted by those with some teaching experience, little practical teaching training or who wish to gain an internationally recognized qualification. Applicants must have at least a C1 level of the Common Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) or an IELTS score of 7.
CELTA places equal emphasis on theory and practice. A strong practical component shows employers that successful candidates have the skills needed to succeed in the classroom.
Teaching English As A Second Or Foreign Language (tesol) Program
Courses can be delivered full-time or part-time in one of three delivery modes: fully face-to-face, a hybrid format combining self-directed learning with hands-on teaching experience, or fully online with practicum. All of this is delivered online through a video conferencing platform like Zoom. Full-time face-to-face courses typically last four to five weeks. CELTA is a continuous course (ie participants are assessed throughout the course) certification.
Candidates who successfully complete the course will go on to work in a variety of green teaching environments around the world.
CELTA is aligned with the Level 5 Qualifications and Credits Framework for Wales, Wales and Northern Ireland and is suitable for teachers at foundation and development levels within the Cambridge Cherry Teaching Framework.

And was managed by the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) from the 1970s to 1988. A 100-hour course at International House resulted in the RSA Prep Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language to Adults (RSA PrepCertTEFLA).

CELTA focuses on teaching adult learners, but many skills and techniques are also suitable for teaching young learners. Candidates who plan to teach primarily young learners will be able to take advantage of the Young Learner Transfer to CELTA after completing the CELTA until 2010, when the ‘Young Learner Extension’ will be in place.
CELTA is suitable for experienced teachers who are starting their careers and have no practical teaching training or who want to gain international certification in their ELT skills. Teachers with initial teaching qualifications and teachers with at least one year of English teaching experience may be better suited to other qualifications such as Delta.
CELTA is suitable for foundation and developing teachers within the Cambridge Cambridge teaching framework, while Delta is for profit and specialist teachers.
