The following instructions apply to Hitron CGNM-2250, Cisco DPC 3848V, Cisco DPC 3825 and Arris SBG6782 WiFi modems. A power cord and coaxial cable are included with your modem. If anything is missing from your kit, please let us know. Double sided divider is not included but may be required.

Note: Global supply chain issues have caused Shaw and many other companies to struggle with Ethernet cable shortages. Therefore, your Self Connect kit may not include an Ethernet cable as specified in your Installation Guide.
Most customers do not need an Ethernet cable to install and activate their equipment. If you need an Ethernet cable to complete your Self Connect, please contact us and we will send you one.
Place your Shaw WiFi modem in a central location in your home or in the central part where the Internet is used most often. Make sure your WiFi modem is open and off the ground. Avoid placing your wifi modem in the basement, in closed closets, or behind other objects.
If you previously had a modem, try installing your new Shaw Wifi modem in the same location to ensure successful activation. If you want to move to another place (as described above), do so after completing the activation.

Note: If the lights continue to flash for more than 15 minutes and are not solid, you may be plugging your modem into an inactive wall outlet, or there may be a signal problem with the coaxial cable or jack. Try a different coaxial outlet and remove all cable splitters. If you don’t have another socket and still can’t activate your modem, contact us.

Ideally, you should place your modem in a central or central location in your home where Internet service is most often used. Be sure to place the modem in an open position and elevated from the ground. Avoid placing your modem in basements, closets, or behind other objects. To avoid WiFi interference, try to keep your modem away from appliances, metal or stainless steel objects, and electrical equipment.
The most common answer to this question is that you plugged your modem into an inactive coaxial wall outlet. Try using a different coax plug if available. If another socket is not available or still not working, you should contact us.
How To Change Your Wi Fi Password
Some Shaw WiFi modems transmit 2.4 GHz (SSID-2.4) and 5 GHz (SSID-5) frequencies. For devices connected to both frequencies, 2.4 GHz offers better range or coverage, while 5 GHz provides faster speeds. We recommend using 2.4GHz for devices that move around your home, and 5GHz for more stationary devices, especially if they are streaming video.
If you have two devices that need to be connected to a combined outlet, you need a bidirectional splitter and a 3-coax cable. Plug a cable into the wall outlet and the splitter port marked IN. Connect all other two cables to an OUTsplitter port and then to your TV player and modem.
A return shipping label must be provided with your kit. The best way to access your Gateway settings is through the BlueCurve Home app. You can change various settings on the modem, everything from WiFi passwords to parental controls and more advanced settings, all from a convenient mobile app or your computer.
Download the free Shaw BlueCurve Home app (Apple App Store or Google Play) and log in with your Shaw ID username and password.
Alternatively, you can log into the Gateway Admin Tool to change settings this way. Note that some settings may not be available here and must be changed in the BlueCurve Home app instead.
If you have problems with your WiFi connection at home, you can reset your Fibre+ Gateway from the Overview section of the BlueCurve Home mobile app.

Note: This may take up to 10 minutes, during which time you will not be able to use your home network, connect to the Internet, or stream video on a particular TV.
Using the Administrator tool, you can perform a factory reset, which will erase all your custom settings, including any changes made to your WiFi name, network password, and wireless channel settings.
Note: All your settings will be lost. This should only be done in rare cases or if recommended by a Shaw agent. In most cases, your home WiFi connection to Shaw Internet should be stable and fast. Dropouts and slow speeds can be the result of weak signals, device capabilities, or interference. If you suspect that your WiFi is not working as it should, try the WiFi troubleshooting solutions below to fix things.
The maximum speed (bandwidth) of your Internet plan will be shared by all devices connected to your home WiFi network. It’s normal to experience slower speeds if you have multiple devices connected at once, or one device is consistently uploading/downloading a significant amount of data. This is most noticeable on slow speed packets.

Try closing applications and reducing the number of connected devices to see if performance improves for devices that are still connected.
When selecting your WiFi network on the device, you may have a choice between 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz frequencies, which should be determined according to the location, distance and needs of your devices.
Note: The BlueCurve Gateway has the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, but they do not appear separately in the list of available networks. Instead, the modem automatically steers your devices to the optimal frequency using a feature called band steering.
5 GHz can transmit more data and provide faster speeds, but it has less coverage and is more easily affected by common obstacles.

2.4 GHz has better range but lower speed which tends to be easily affected by any radio interference compared to 5 GHz.
The function is activated, your modem will automatically order the devices on the fastest frequency and you will see only one frequency to connect.
Note: If one of your devices doesn’t see a 5GHz option while the others do, consider connecting directly to your modem for high speed.

Although Shaw does not use third-party routers, if you have a wireless router (common brands include: D-Link, Netgear, Linksys and Belkin) connected to your Shaw Internet modem, read Power cycle your equipment.

Although rare, modem software can cause problems. As one of the last WiFi troubleshooting tips we offer, it can help to reset your modem to its factory settings. However, this will also reset your default password and network name on the sticker on the back of the modem.
If you have a BlueCurve Gateway, a hard reset will stop Internet access and delete all custom settings, including WiFi channel and network name, until you follow the steps in the article to turn on your BlueCurve Gateway.
