Effective April 21, 2020, the official branding of Microsoft’s productivity suite changed from Office 365 to just Microsoft 365. The new naming convention reflects Microsoft’s strategy to provide one comprehensive productivity platform for its customers.
From a customer perspective, there is no distinction between Windows 10, Office 365 and Azure; all in one platform, Microsoft 365 platform. We will have to wait and see how this new strategy works.
Fortunately, from the perspective of existing subscribers, the transition from Office 365 to Microsoft 365 won’t have an immediate practical impact. Typically, the subscription you have on April 20th is the same as the subscription you had on April 21st, just with a different name.
