The Breakdown: Marvel’s The Avengers Trailer
Last night the ALCS game ran long on FOX due to extra innings, so neither Nate or myself got more than 8 minutes of Terra Nova’s episode recorded. Lucky us, if FOX is still doing their “make you suffer” game of posting shows 8 days after airing, we’re gonna have to wait a while to see the rest of the episode.
To make up for this horrible act of treachery on our part by not having a write up of the episode this morning I have a gift for you all, and it comes in the awesome form of the trailer for The Avengers. AKA Marvel’s costumed finest coming together to fight crime as a team! Yay! [Read more...]
Review: Thor
Thor is arguably in the running for the best Marvel movies yet and is a pretty much non-stop blast of action, fun, and humor from start to finish; lead by star making turns by Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston.
Thor is a god, and the future king of Asgard, that wields a powerful hammer that only elevates his abilities to being the greatest warrior in the Realm. As Thor’s anointment ceremony is about to be carried out Asgard’s ancient enemies, the Frost Giants, attempt a sneak attack to recapture an ancient weapon that King Odin took from them a millennium ago. Thor, Loki (Thor’s brother), The Warriors Three (Volstagg, Fandral and Hogun) and Sif head off to the Frost Giants home of Jotunheim to confront their leader Laufey, hoping to set the Frost King straight. After the inevitable battle on Jotunheim, Odin has to step in with Thor being banished in the aftermath of the battle. On Earth, stripped of his powers and hammer, Thor finds himself wrapped up in the lives of a team of scientists who hesitantly help to find him to find his way again.
Comic-Con International 2010 – My Experience in Nerd Heaven
A couple of weeks ago I excitedly told my aunt that I was going to Comic Con in a week, with a big ol’ smile on my face. I didn’t really expect her to be jealous, but I was overly excited. Then she asked if it was a gathering of comics or something. As in comedians. I then proceeded to try and explain that it was this really cool event that happens each year that has been taken over by Hollywood in the past decade or so. Basically it has everything a nerd would desire to see, including comics, writers, artists, video games, tv shows, and movies. I told her about the panels I was planning on sitting in on and some of the people that were scheduled to attend. I was adamant about making her see how awesome it was, but she just didn’t get it. Color me deflated. Oh well, I guess Comic Con is just for certain people…

Joss Whedon to Helm The Avengers!
I don’t usually like to post something till it is a lock but Deadline New York seems pretty sure of this story and it is great news for everyone if this hiring goes all the way through till the shoot and till release day.
For those unfamiliar with Whedon he has created such cult TV classics like Firefly (and its awesome feature sequel Serenity), Dollhouse, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, was a writer on Toy Story, created Dr. Horrible’s Sing a Long Blog, and has written a bevy of comics for Marvel and his established properties.
The Avengers should feature Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor(Chris Hemsworth), and even more superheroes from the Marvel Universe/Films. Ed Norton as The Hulk is a maybe to appear, long rumored to be the villian of the film possibly, but don’t guarantee any casting until they are on set for who knows what could happen.
Head to Deadline for the full story.
