Before you pop in Big K.R.I.T.’s new album, Live From The Underground, ask yourself something. Have you listened to any of his past mixtapes? If you answered no, then stop whatever you’re doing and go download them. The two most prolific tapes the southern rapper put out, 4eva N A Day and Return Of 4eva, have garnered him many of fans in a rather short span of time. With Fast Five following shortly after Scream 4, looks like higher numbered sequels that don’t have the name Harry Potter in the title aren’t necessarily something to dread anymore. It may not be time to start a list of the successes this year quite yet (hopefully once Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is released), but there is definitely reason to hope.
Fast Five compiles a plethora of characters from the previous entries of the films, bringing back some favorites, as well as some lesser known characters for those who tuned out once the series left the country, creating a team to support Dominic, Brian, and Mia with the ridiculous plot in Rio that involves being chased down by a glorified bounty hunter of sorts to bring them back to the states to pay for their crimes.
Before you write the film off for this plot alone, let’s do a little comparison to help explain it. If this movie were a cinematic vehicular race it would be the pod race from The Phantom Menace. [Read more...]
Now Playing Review – No Strings Attached

“I just don’t know!” That’s right, last time it was a confusedly baffled emoticon as a review with Black Swan, and now yet another Natalie Portman movie leaves me not knowing what to say. However, instead of the befuddled mindset I was left with then, now I am going with a more exasperated thought process due to my lack of ability to form a full sentence pertaining to an opinion, as in “I can’t decide how much I liked this movie,” and that confusion is definitely not something to aspire to.
The reason for this lies in the story. No Strings Attached ups the anti on the question as to whether or not men and women can be best friends and nothing more by throwing sex into the mix as a catalyst. Emma and Adam think they can do just that by agreeing to use each other for sexy time, and if at any time one of them starts developing feelings they will end the physical arrangement immediately.
