Maybe I’m still in a funk from the abandonment issues stemming from Jenna’s dad leaving us last week, but I doubt I am alone in thinking that with the lack of key character interactions we have come to expect, this episode of Awkward fell a little short on the whole compared to episodes past.  Granted, there was some rather hilarious mocking of religion to lessen the pain, if you’re into that sort of thing. This week’s episode of Awkward. goes for the dramatic as it deals with the fallout of Jenna’s mom telling her dad that she wrote the carefrontation letter, which may go a little too far honestly.  It better go back to normal if the show knows what’s good for it [menacing fist shaking]!  But drama aside, in true Awkward. fashion the theme of third wheels and clinginess runs through the episode, leading to some much needed hilarity to counterbalance the seriousness of the major subplot. Following the eventful holiday season within the premiere, Jenna has some decisions to make when her time spent with Matty might be forced out into the open when the school populous notices a security camera pointed at the Sanctuary.  This is the main drama of the episode, but Ming overshadows it when she infiltrates another group during lunch.  I know, I never thought I would read words of praise about Ming either.

When we last saw the accidental suicide survivor, Jenna… Wait, that doesn’t sound right because anyone who survives suicide is by accident.  Let’s try again:  When we last saw Jenna, a girl who started the MTV hit Awkward. by accidentally falling in such a way that suggested a suicide attempt, things were going decently in a middle of the scale of great/suckfest type way.  She finally pushed Matty to the side for Jake, all was well with her friends, and she figured out who wrote the carefrontation note.  So where do we go from there for season 2?
