2012 has been quite a year for music. Alternative darlings broke out in a big way, taking over most of the radio. Giant albums from returning artists gave us critics something to lavish over throughout the year. 2012 was also the year that Youtube became a major player, helping push viral artists like Carly Rae Jepsen and Psy to the forefronts of the American subconcious. It’s almost summer, which means that there are plenty of feel good summer albums to come out in the next month or so. And really, what’s more summer than California? Follow up question; what’s more California than the LA duo Best Coast? Fronted by Bethany Cosentino and backed by Bobb Bruno, the duo have really become known for their easy going summer feel. That couldn’t be more apparent than on their first album Crazy For You, as well as Cosentino’s guest spot on one of Converses “3 Artists One Song” promotion with Kid Cudi and Vampire Weekend’s Rostin a couple of years ago. The Fall is coming up on us soon, and with a new season comes great new music (Jacks Mannequin, Common, Drake, and Coldplay just to name a few). But until Autumn gets here, and in celebration of this past summer, we decided to put some of our favorite songs into one giant post. Just a note here: some of these songs are not from 2011, but still was enjoyable to listen throughout the blistering heat of this summer.
