The concept of a Digital Copy in the home video market has always interested me, but it wasn’t until recently that the format has really stepped forward as a serious essential for movie fans and home video collectors. [Read more...]

A Single Man is a beautiful and wonderfully acted tale about love and loss at what it can do to a person, driving them to their breaking point. I can’t recommend this film enough and I have included my original review below.
But don’t take my word for it, go check it out ASAP, because I know most of you haven’t!
My Original Review: A Single Man
A Single Man is a career defining performance from Colin Firth and one of the strongest, most confident, and beautiful directorial debuts I can recall from Tom Ford.
Head here to print off your coupons which saves $5 dollars on each title for a total of $10 of savings on the two titles. But that is not all, at Target the titles are selling for $19.99 each, plus if you buy both you save another $10 so you get both Toy Story’s on Blu for $20 Dollars! That is a deal.
Also, if you have any of the old Toy Story DVD’s you might want to hold on to those and not trade them in, especially the Ultimate Toy Box Collection, as there are still a few extras not ported over to these Blu-Ray’s.
Hey there home video fans. Disney is great at giving out coupons for their new releases and this week is no different. The Princess and the Frog, the studio’s return to its hand drawn roots, is coming to DVD and Blu-Ray and you can get the title on both formats for 16.99 with this coupon. (That is cheaper than the DVD or Standard Blu-Ray by themselves!)
All you have to do is hit this link to Disney’s Magical Savings, select the US coupon, and print it out. Take it to your local retailer, Best Buy and Target are both selling it for 26.99, and buy the Combo Pack that includes the Blu-Ray and the DVD.
Now you might say to yourself, but I don’t have Blu-Ray? Well its called future proofing as this coming Christmas the upgrade to Blu should be incredibly reasonable and you will already have one of the best looking title on the format in your collection. Plus you will still have the DVD for the kids to use, or take it on the road, or use it as a coaster; whatever you choose.
The biggest DVD/Blu release of the year for many, yes, some people enjoyed this more than Dark Knight, begins blockbuster season in the home video market. The a/v’s on this said to be solid with a wealth of extras for those so inclined. This is one of three amazing super hero movies this summer, Hellboy II and Dark Knight being the others, and this one has the honor of the best alter ego of a super hero, Tony Stark, on full display by the amazing Robert Downey Jr. If you are a fan, pick this one up, if you skipped it, you were a fool and you should go rent this asap! Get it on DVD here, Blu hit the link above. [Read more...]

Pushing Daisies: The Complete First Season [Blu-ray]
Pushing Daisies is a fantastic show that is about as close as a TV show can get to feeling like a movie, this side of LOST. If you are a fan of Tim Burton and that odd sense of humor this show will be right up your ally and this is a perfect way to catch up before the new season starts in October. [Read more...]
In Bruges came out on video this week and you should rush out to buy it as it is currently in the top 3 standings of movies of 08 by my book. Here is my original review!
Martin McDonagh’s feature debut is an impressive one that weaves dark humor with a bit of action while diving into the psyche of a hit man.
Ray and Ken (Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, respectively) are instructed by their employer Harry (Ralph Fiennes) to lay low in Bruges, Belgium after performing a hit in London while the crime cools down before they are allowed to return. Bruges is a medieval town filled with canals, steeples, and stone buildings and tourists must see if you ever happen to visit Belgium. Ken is in love with the town, seeing the sights and enjoying his days touring the locales while Ray feels as he is in Hell and loathes every moment he has to spend there. [Read more...]
I reviewd this film last winter, and put it in my top 10 of last year, and I thought I should bring it back into the public eye now that it is finally on DVD. So go rent Control, a wonderful film by Anton Corbijn that deserves to be discovered by film and music fans everywhere.
This is one of those movies that comes out of no where and smacks you in the face with how good it is. Control, by first time feature director Anton Corbijn (veteran of many music videos), knocks the rise and fall of Joy Division lead singer Ian Curtis. The movie starts with Curtis finding his calling for music along with his high school sweet heart and follows him along his rise to a star of Britain rock scene. I think this movie is best enjoyed with knowing as little about his life as possible, I knew nothing but the obvious about him, so I won’t divulge into details here. But if you know nothing about Joy Division or their music do not shy away from this movie. [Read more...]
So it’s Tuesday, which means its time to buy some DVD’s. There were two on the menu today, the Two Disc Transformers and the second part of Grindhouse: Planet Terror.
I decide to go to Target today to buy my movies, which is a bit odd for me as usually you will find me at Best Buy, but boy am I happy I did. I go to get the Two Disc of Transformers and I realize they don’t have the one I want, they have some exclusive, for 2 dollars more that is probably nothing more than a simple DVD with nothing important on it. I hate when they do these add-on’s and then don’t have anything worthwhile on it, and then they charge extra, store exclusive things should be the same price unless its really something specail; off the soapbox. So I quickly double check and find they don’t have a non-bonus version, so I contemplate just buying it or driving and spending the two dollars i would save somewhere else easily in gas. Then I notice, it is not a bonus DVD, it is special packaging. Which can be cool, like with the steel book DVD cases(which Best Buy had an exclusive on for both Grindhouse titles, but charged Extra!!) but this was even cooler.
THE DVD TRANSFORMS INTO OPTIMUS PRIME!!! [Read more...]
